Zumba

I started this fine Saturday morning waking from a dream within which I was at the dollar store browsing pregnancy tests whilst my cell phone was beeping and freakin beeping uncontrollably and I couldn't figure out how to make it stop. Eventually I came to my waking senses to realize it was just the damn alarm clock going off. Stabbing me in the brain insistently. It was 6am mind you, so as I was planning on forgetting this little interruption, Mila was basking in the making of a little interruption of her own. The joys of sharing a room with your toddler. So yes, I have been dead tired all day. Thank you.
For the last month or so my mother has been trying with all her might to get me to join her at Dance Underground on Capital Hill for Nia or Zumba classes. Today was the day that all pieces fell into place and I was actually able to attend.
IT WAS GREAT!
The class began with Lady Gaga so I was immediately sold. I could sum Zumba up as basically something I would do on a dance party night with my girlfriends. Given that Zumba doesn't include vodka tonics and involves more stamina than I would regularly volunteer. I am now the proud owner of my own introductory student 3 class punch card and plan to attend class again next Saturday. I feel about 80% better about my existence now. I guess a good workout, some fun tunes, and flailing arms can really make a good impact on my day.

DIY Exploration

In a previous post I talked about all the awesome plans me and my mother have for re-purposing old clothing. Well, it hasn't exactly happened yet. We sorted and washed all the potentials, sprawled them out on the floor, and then decided it was much too sunny out to be cooped up inside and spent the day strolling Alki and living in house buying fantasies instead. It was worth it.

So now I'm still waiting for our next big mother, daughter, daughter get together day where we will be more productive. In the meantime I have been searching through DIY blogs and finding tons of inspiration. I found a couple sites that have tons of good ideas including: Threadbanger, GiannyL.com and Design*Sponge.

I also decided that I need to have this book:

photo jojo
It's filled with tons of photo projects. It's definately inspiring.
So until my mom day get together I will be sketching out rough clothing design plans and preparing myself for awesome-ness.

Be my Valentino noodle slurping son of a Jesus man.

Valentine's Day Eve 2011
Cafe Veloce Kirkland, WA

My Scallops, noodles, and stuff.
Happy Valentine's day to everyone who gives a damn. I have never personally fretted over the holiday, although having any excuse to get all excessive with your dining adventure for the night is alright in my book. It also gives me an excuse to gussy up a bit into anything including pumps and something other than sexy sweat pants. Me and my hunny-poo went to our favorite little Italian place, Cafe Veloce. They are absolutely fabulous. I feel like a freakin Mormon in suspenders pushing the place on everyone. It's located in Kirkland, about a 45 min drive from our humble abode in Auburn and yet it was our grown up night out dinner of choice anyway.  So we fancied up the night with a bottle of Fior D'arancio (fabulous by the way) and a mouthwatering plate of Seared scallops with capers in a white cream sauce. They goofed and gave me seashell noodles instead of fettuccine and brought us a free heart-shaped dessert to compensate. We then made the trek all the way back home to play a mean round of Little Big Planet two. Where I proceeded to grapple him into electricity continuously. (These where his words)

So happy Valentine's Day to all of those who care. I'm happy to have spent another love day with my boy. We had a fabulous time and I love him very much. Cheers!

Finally went red-er

I finally got off my ass today and emptied a box (two boxes) of hair dye on my head. It turned out ok I suppose.
Tonight is ladies night. I'm excited to get my girls together and have some girly fun. We are going to start out the evening by going to a Tickled Pink art party at Tasty  featuring all women artists http://blog.shoptastyart.com/483/uncategorized/tickled-pink-coming-soon/ then we will probably hit up the town somewhere else. Who knows where the night will take us.

Bikini envy

I want to look like Kate Beckinsale in a bikini

I guess that means it's time to put down the bowl of cupcake fruity pebbles and do some sit ups or something.

Clothing, clothing cut and bedazzle.

Icky vintage clothes beware! I am armed to slice you and turn you from a 90s mess into something unique and fabulous. After already receiving an abundance of inspiration from the Tasty trunk sale on Wed, my mother and I had a girls day out on Alki, where we rediscovered Pepper, a shop made up entirely by one girls clothing creations. She sits in her shop all day with her sewing maching and chop, chop, chops and turns something old into something new. She had old cowboy boots with added bling and chains, sweater dresses with ruffles, fur covered vests, sequined gowns, you name it. We went away with the desire to create some outfits of our own. We are going to get together at least once a week at her Tullys loft and get creative. I already have about 5 garbage bags filled with clothes that were waiting for the goodwill drop box. I'm stoked for our art date for the coming week!

Eyelashes

I refuse to wash my face. I applied half width black lashes to my eyes on Wednesday and they are still stuck and going strong. I like to pretend it is natural for me to wake up looking this god damn delicious. I want to have big flashy voluptuous eyelashes implanted in my face permanently.

I am especially in LOVE with these. I wonder where I could find this?!

My goal is to treat falsies as part of my regular makeup ritual. After time i should become a pro at glueing them on. Maybe I'll even come up with a new eyelash invention.. can I make my own? hmmm... The bigger, fluffier, shinier, the better.

Birthday Boy's night out

Birthday boy Brian (AKA my baby's daddy) awoke this morning glowing beams of glory with a goofy, giddy school boy grin stretched from ear to ear. As for those who know him this is a rarety. And probably seems like a fabrication. But I assure you folks, it is more than fiction.

Last night while I was working the wee hours of the Valentine's Day trunk sale at Tasty in Phinney Ridge, Brian and his pall Chuckles went to see Thursday at Showbox Sodo. ( I have yet to hear this band, but these boys are apparently gaga over them) So after receiving a few ecstatic texts from Brian saying things like "Thursday Destroyed!! Best show EVER!" I was ready to skedaddle my stiletto clad, fake eyelashed, big haired, stretch leather legging ass away from the register, pink champagne, and pink frosted heart shaped cookies to go home to my sketch pad, (I got smacked in the face with an abundance of inspiration at the show) jammies and an adult beverage of my own. I was anticipating a drunken boy after party at my place. Since it was still pretty early, around midnight,  and I knew the boys would be all pumped up and sooo not ready to go to bed only to wake up at a decent hour to complete the daily grind.
The lead singer of Thursday and Brian
Apparently while Brian took his little girl bladder to the bathroom near the end of the show, Chuck took it upon himself to find Thursday's van, introduce himself to the band and tell them it was Brian's birthday. So by the time Brian was done going potty he was rushed straight into star-struck bliss. They all ended up going across the street to some dive bar where the drummer was bought "birthday boy Brian" shots and drinks to celebrate. Long story short (er) He had the time of his life. I am beyond ecstatic for him. The poor guy has a hell of a commute to a thankless job and its about time he did something fantastic. Yay for my little Bri Bri!

At least I know he didn't completely forget about us gals back at home in his real life while he was out and about. Between numerous texts and frantically excited calls to me, he also posted this fabulous picture of my adorable diva babe on Facebook.
