<span style="color: #e06666; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">We have been stuck inside during a snow storm for days. We were all very close to killing </span><span style="color: #e06666; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">each other</span><span style="color: #e06666; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> when I devised a plan. Craft time. What shall we do? Lets make the soap ball animals that I had intended to make for Christmas and never got around to! </span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What you need:</div>
<div>
4 bars of soap</div>
<div>
5-8 tiny plastic toys</div>
<div>
Large bowl</div>
<div>
1/5 cup water</div>
<div>
<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Begin with a few bars of soap. I used 4 bars of Pomegranate/ Mango Softsoap. When I found the original idea of this project, they had used white soap so it would look like snow. I decided on pink because, well, everything is better in pink in my opinion.</span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE4Yeix4FyUtozzvhpOJ94Xto9gAcTSrjKP1NA5TKXhEkZ1kvJmo4-i85xMu6nKr2A8bewncDnSvcYneadGJgkIPQoZIqi8mUaPxZMirICsQ9EE5uoo-y1dAhz1g6D5CtuetbXrpeKuBw/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="220" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE4Yeix4FyUtozzvhpOJ94Xto9gAcTSrjKP1NA5TKXhEkZ1kvJmo4-i85xMu6nKr2A8bewncDnSvcYneadGJgkIPQoZIqi8mUaPxZMirICsQ9EE5uoo-y1dAhz1g6D5CtuetbXrpeKuBw/s320/image.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step 1:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Grate up the bars of soap. If you have a food processor, you should be able to use that to make the process much easier.. Mine, unfortunately would not work for me this morning.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh9j-nec0Gq4UGSGXR9YntxJwJ47gk3mvcUKZS7GH7TZuUsI3TGxFLnKnLfI2_yUG6FFM_hzCZdVX3PfNSjly49wGNx8becgWVlOCcaUc4CtTACYicU3VgwHRoDxjtq-E-TZO5eT1Mk1E/s1600/bowl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh9j-nec0Gq4UGSGXR9YntxJwJ47gk3mvcUKZS7GH7TZuUsI3TGxFLnKnLfI2_yUG6FFM_hzCZdVX3PfNSjly49wGNx8becgWVlOCcaUc4CtTACYicU3VgwHRoDxjtq-E-TZO5eT1Mk1E/s320/bowl.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step 2:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Pour all your soap curls into a big bowl.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE4Yeix4FyUtozzvhpOJ94Xto9gAcTSrjKP1NA5TKXhEkZ1kvJmo4-i85xMu6nKr2A8bewncDnSvcYneadGJgkIPQoZIqi8mUaPxZMirICsQ9EE5uoo-y1dAhz1g6D5CtuetbXrpeKuBw/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs62BFdKtkWM_sgejeNaWVr80CGrJYqYp1RuumOF1sn24FtkimffcCSs2s651HtINAaoIrRlSRRVPsOXbIT9H7xKjg51qlJpPv0YZKWEe3Eriu1FIV_xah636r_pCO08nqVlE4sge7VkY/s1600/0191.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs62BFdKtkWM_sgejeNaWVr80CGrJYqYp1RuumOF1sn24FtkimffcCSs2s651HtINAaoIrRlSRRVPsOXbIT9H7xKjg51qlJpPv0YZKWEe3Eriu1FIV_xah636r_pCO08nqVlE4sge7VkY/s320/0191.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step 3:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Slowly add lukewarm water. I used 4 bars of soap and added about 1/2 cup of water. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Add a little at a time, and mix with your hands until you get a clay-like substance.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Remember, you can always add more water if it starts to dry out.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSUrYdyDifMM-P3uzS_sf3DzhQOosWJkwWq-YWNdje8pvVILpkvfhGUngUxHL0UzWZQvEihBryNG_ct5I8P3twFUCQa67EJSXQU0L143i47RFGZg3NfiamSHB85HG7UnsXla3z4n5xi0s/s1600/0201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSUrYdyDifMM-P3uzS_sf3DzhQOosWJkwWq-YWNdje8pvVILpkvfhGUngUxHL0UzWZQvEihBryNG_ct5I8P3twFUCQa67EJSXQU0L143i47RFGZg3NfiamSHB85HG7UnsXla3z4n5xi0s/s400/0201.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Animals!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">You can use pretty much any little plastic thing you want for the center of your soap ball. I used these tiny plastic animals. I found the whole lot of them at Fred Meyer for about $1.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEGWy2vYF7Wu-eQVKQNis4W14VDfZjgh1TYmLrcrDVFXqehOjVCjn8d78Es1jyg-5j_HmmwfsldCj3vfzhyphenhyphenqKomW0yZfGhCxOsohc3tE0ZJ8OJsWo9hVW5uBrMYwPu_RgKYt4AVLFtwJM/s1600/0291.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEGWy2vYF7Wu-eQVKQNis4W14VDfZjgh1TYmLrcrDVFXqehOjVCjn8d78Es1jyg-5j_HmmwfsldCj3vfzhyphenhyphenqKomW0yZfGhCxOsohc3tE0ZJ8OJsWo9hVW5uBrMYwPu_RgKYt4AVLFtwJM/s400/0291.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step 4:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Ball up some soap in your hand, poke a deep whole, and insert the toy. Cover the rest up and shape the soap into a ball, or heart, or triangle... whatever you're little heart desires.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4xedpTcA5K42XzzaoGXo2HIIk5R1_HpEaVt97Mt2BqwQ4otHCKPOdzFR6YlNxn86aleLRNF0A8mchM9BLAjQ4MTOUbg1s_Iomr23JTAT_IjN2iUiVpaMrhZ4SZhJXQ0OfQwkp4b7pwCQ/s1600/0361.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4xedpTcA5K42XzzaoGXo2HIIk5R1_HpEaVt97Mt2BqwQ4otHCKPOdzFR6YlNxn86aleLRNF0A8mchM9BLAjQ4MTOUbg1s_Iomr23JTAT_IjN2iUiVpaMrhZ4SZhJXQ0OfQwkp4b7pwCQ/s320/0361.jpg" width="237" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step 5:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">It is extremely important to have a professional helper close at hand. Here is Mila oh-so-efficiently stuffing a plastic tiger into a "ball".</span></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhNeU1jx0xpOmNt3Wc_MVdXVwKp6RFS0uXkdhvZBbENCEbM8L0c5994AK20eTPASFF7Af6pKHJEW-wvVVJG_M1lSVBDSyX-Zlj6FPe4-W5eKJLVVWpc6XQkU8CPMZAc2ryKO4nXgu0cQQ/s1600/0411.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhNeU1jx0xpOmNt3Wc_MVdXVwKp6RFS0uXkdhvZBbENCEbM8L0c5994AK20eTPASFF7Af6pKHJEW-wvVVJG_M1lSVBDSyX-Zlj6FPe4-W5eKJLVVWpc6XQkU8CPMZAc2ryKO4nXgu0cQQ/s400/0411.jpg" width="376" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step 6:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Be as cute as possible</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvmsfyz9A5La6agcebFRmnwOyHrKn_1vIP3Uem_uiCFkMYfTzgnIRBV7puEiyjtpRVZAOr9zaXWWL2nWfA1yO9s0LC-pYVp8CTaJeQPgByDOtumWWAQ-IpdaGNJjix3NzY0Gb1f-wy__o/s1600/0471.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="307" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvmsfyz9A5La6agcebFRmnwOyHrKn_1vIP3Uem_uiCFkMYfTzgnIRBV7puEiyjtpRVZAOr9zaXWWL2nWfA1yO9s0LC-pYVp8CTaJeQPgByDOtumWWAQ-IpdaGNJjix3NzY0Gb1f-wy__o/s400/0471.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step 7:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Set your finished product on a cookie sheet to dry. They need to dry completely before use or they may crumble.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">(Tip: If you aren't happy with the lumpy texture you might first end up with, dip your ball in water and try to smooth out and shape the surface.)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #e06666;"><br /></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #e06666;">Our snow day craft session was a success! And the best part- cleaning up was a breeze! We ended up cleaner than we were to begin with. And the house smells fabulous! I really recommend this scent and brand of soap. Delicious!! It was so delicious in fact, my brother came upstairs in the middle of our project, took one sniff, and proceeded to sneak a little bite of the pink soap shavings. His face was pretty priceless!</span><br />
<span style="color: #e06666;">The one complaint I have about this project is that now I have to find another activity to keep us occupied today! It was super quick, taking around 15-20 mins from start to finish. Fun!</span></div>Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08595206993872775134noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1862826428536331574.post-5538544359301503412012-01-16T19:46:00.000-08:002012-01-16T19:46:52.026-08:00<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;">Turn an Ugly Old Dresser Into a Bar or Artistic Focal Point</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am working on turning an ugly old bookshelf into an attractive bar that will make an artistic statement in my otherwise drab dining room. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here is what I have so far!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeONb5N4vpw8_rXkWQ2LtQatfRwY1o69Ym-NwhqsTTg0tHGEo7vLPlKEQMv2w1EQp5q_wc_i-Sse3Vg2qO13-1EGxJ4Z8ZlXUz0vvEdXH-3Dz9_-75J_c00FkoXUUdk7vtnFpTOcPOMbA/s1600/0301.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeONb5N4vpw8_rXkWQ2LtQatfRwY1o69Ym-NwhqsTTg0tHGEo7vLPlKEQMv2w1EQp5q_wc_i-Sse3Vg2qO13-1EGxJ4Z8ZlXUz0vvEdXH-3Dz9_-75J_c00FkoXUUdk7vtnFpTOcPOMbA/s640/0301.jpg" width="379" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here it is! I got a creative bug late one night and just couldn't help myself. Might as well flow with it right?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgROZL0sAeDmGkyXFANr1F8Bga3ODB6yyoLOAKyAVoP98aic4fiPX-qHsCH373Nl6zeXVKPXbbmnTftIXcHqimiFFt6TnlKLKPCKSGdrkbXaBPcSfkLhnj9g16dsxX1iWSBJq1un5yOE5U/s1600/018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgROZL0sAeDmGkyXFANr1F8Bga3ODB6yyoLOAKyAVoP98aic4fiPX-qHsCH373Nl6zeXVKPXbbmnTftIXcHqimiFFt6TnlKLKPCKSGdrkbXaBPcSfkLhnj9g16dsxX1iWSBJq1un5yOE5U/s320/018.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here it is before</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was just sitting there in the corner looking gloomy, covered in randomness that was not at all appealing to my dining room.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsAJheoIDY-L2ltldLD4dNqR3z6rWr0ahDZK0Sj845bV7ubplqLmRpC-Kh2WNL9OOOwuUzF2P6AKAyKtP3kO8Tlxn9obTCds8UXfxYE27fUZAIZsxHGKliT_IFGmFrd0R-6V5EdNpbOD8/s1600/024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsAJheoIDY-L2ltldLD4dNqR3z6rWr0ahDZK0Sj845bV7ubplqLmRpC-Kh2WNL9OOOwuUzF2P6AKAyKtP3kO8Tlxn9obTCds8UXfxYE27fUZAIZsxHGKliT_IFGmFrd0R-6V5EdNpbOD8/s320/024.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Begin by measuring the length and width of each shelf wall you want to cover.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is much easier if you have a shelf with removable shelves. If you do, you only have to cut one big piece!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPzcHoDQJm30nEqjH1OgVeCyhoBwdbuzQrHk1XxJ-oDpCplMo3_afLVbz9b3MNBtshJayL2qmkfPoRON-6QeVgdqAbwmSR7JHWEz-myYr8HvgGe03I4nrFnQLcHoatZ1oW86MmX7BSqAg/s1600/021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPzcHoDQJm30nEqjH1OgVeCyhoBwdbuzQrHk1XxJ-oDpCplMo3_afLVbz9b3MNBtshJayL2qmkfPoRON-6QeVgdqAbwmSR7JHWEz-myYr8HvgGe03I4nrFnQLcHoatZ1oW86MmX7BSqAg/s320/021.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To adhere your material you can use staples, or glue. I used a Beacon's craft glue. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Dribble some on the shelf wall paying extra attention to the corners and edges.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I intentionally left the bottom selves bare. I haven't yet, but I plan on putting a curtain on the lower half. This way I can store some of the less attractive kitchen items that I want to put there. It will also (hopefully) limit the curiosity of my 2 year old.</div>

</div><div><br />
</div>One of my best friends Tessonja and her boyfriends Spencer are having a baby! I was so thrilled when I found out the news. She is due in just over 2 months now and I can barely contain my excitement. This past Sunday was their baby shower. They had it at the most amazing venue I have ever seen- Storybook Cottages in Olalla, WA. It was magnificent. I would love to take some credit for the day of splendor, since I was part of the party planning group, but all credit has to go to Tess' mom Marie and the venue itself. They provided a caterer- who has created and cooked meals for the Seahawks etc. And also supplied all of the place settings, tables, chairs, and awesome forest creature centerpieces. Marie made all the alcoholic drinks possible and Did her DJing throughout the party. <div>The one thing I DID do tho... Make Owl Cake POPS!!</div><div>Here I am going to give you a step by step of how I made them. The Initial Idea I got from the cover of Bakerella's book- www.bakerella.com</div><div>She also offered a quick how-to video for cake pops on amazon. I watched this intently, but she didn't list things like measurements, or WHERE THE HECK to find some of these candy pieces that I needed to decorate an owl pop, specifically.</div><div><br />
</div><div>Since I was working on a Budget and a limited time schedule (having a toddler can make you feel rushed in any situation) I decided to buy boxes of cake, so these would be "easy" to throw together. I went with the kind pictured below 'Pillsbury Moist Supreme' in strawberry flavor. Im not going to lie that I picked this brand because it was the cheapest strawberry that they had- only 96 cents a box! I needed to make 50 cake pops so I doubled up. Each box said it would make 24 cupcakes, so I did the math.</div><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table>HERE IS WHERE I FORGOT TO TAKE SNAPSHOTS OF A MOST VITAL STEP-</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>After the cake is baked and then cooled, all you have to do is crumble it up into a giant bowl. I did one cake at a time for this since I didn't want to be overloaded or mess up on something. Next, add about 2 heaping tablespoons of frosting then mix all together until the cake is moist and you can form it into balls- not too sticky or too crumby- it has to be a perfect medium.<br />
<div><br />
Then take wads of your cake- its basically like playdough or clay at this point- and make balls! For the owls I made mine a bit more triangular. Then place on a cookie sheet and cool in the refrigerator for 15 mins.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Here are my cooling pre-owls</td></tr>
</tbody></table> The next step is to melt your bakers chocolate as directed. I used Wilton Candy Melts. I like these because you can melt and remelt as often as you like. So I didn't have to worry about dipping everything before it hardened. First thing you want to do is dip the tip of the stick into the chocolate. Then insert into your cake about halfway through. I think this step helps the cake stick to the stick.<br />

</tbody></table>Dipping was probably the most difficult of the entire cake pop making process. In the video, Bakerella shows that she simply taps of the excess chocolate. When I did this I was left with uber globby, soggy owl faces. So Instead I used a chop stick to kind of scrape away the extra chocolate. Not too much that I was left with cake showing through, but just enough to when I put the faces on they didn't instantly melt off.<br />

I felt like this would take more time in this already time consuming process so I cheated.<br />

+</div>While searching the internet for ideas of what my toddler could possibly make her grandma (AVA) for her bday, I randomly came up with the BEST idea. Granted it has nothing to do with a present for my mom, BUT it is even better. Stepping Stones. On Mila's second birthday I will have her create a stepping stone. Adding hand prints, jewels, a small toy of sorts that signifies her at this age, etc. THEN, every year on her bday (or perhaps every other year) I will have her make a new stepping stone. Over the years the path will grow and grow, until one day, she will have an artful piece of her past, mapping out every step of the way. How ingenious am I?! It could be that I haven't had my first cup of morning coffee yet, but I think its a simply divine plan.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08595206993872775134noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1862826428536331574.post-78867603433618649192011-07-08T12:00:00.000-07:002011-07-08T12:00:10.916-07:00Jewels from my beau of 5 yearsThis 4th of July not only marked the independence of our country.. It was also Brian and my FIFTH YEAR anniversary! Where does the time go? Here is a snapshot of the amazingly girly Betsey Johnson ring that came in the mail for me the other day. Thanks Babe!<br />

</div>We spent the 4th on adventure. A mini road trip to Ocean shores where we played on the windy beach, made me into a sandy mermaid, ate taffy, drank frappes, and did Applebees happy hour late into the night. The following day we spent 5 hours in the heat of the day splashing around in kiddy pools at Wild Waves. We are currently both nursing our lobster backs. All in all, FABULOUS weekend :DRobinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08595206993872775134noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1862826428536331574.post-30564167271289077782011-07-07T20:58:00.000-07:002011-07-07T20:58:09.933-07:00New-ish creations<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Mila's current obsession is with Hello Kitty. I spent hours online pricing and fantasy shopping for toys and clothes for her when it dawned on me... Its a flippen cat face. Round white circle, two ears, button eyes, yellow nose, red bow. HOW SIMPLE! So I went to my fabric scraps and found some items which I already had to create the following:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguw0qVpdw7-rHrP6Yi5z1KUtb4U5xKqxy3x5G-q_UarytDrlag_DUyhULKYvVlhmJzQUU3UAav5CAb_EY-3022LrflAnbNB0nHpj2pw-PAzomrNnSs9YKgotoWqZmUjKsj_yp3UUkDETY/s1600/062.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguw0qVpdw7-rHrP6Yi5z1KUtb4U5xKqxy3x5G-q_UarytDrlag_DUyhULKYvVlhmJzQUU3UAav5CAb_EY-3022LrflAnbNB0nHpj2pw-PAzomrNnSs9YKgotoWqZmUjKsj_yp3UUkDETY/s400/062.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I think it turned out well considering I didn't have to buy anything for the project. I've been in a dream-like state since Friday night when I decided a can of lemon flavored 4loco along with shots of whipped cream vodka followed by 90's karaoke in my living room sounded like a good idea. I have a perma headache behind my right eye that I can't seem to persuade away no matter how many mugs of coffee or glasses of water downing extra strength Tylenol I consume. There are so many things I could be doing. On top of the list is creating new art for the Georgetown art walk happening in about a month. I have stooped so low into lazy-hood that I haven't, until now, even contemplated the idea of creating something new. I was planning on using some old pieces that I currently have tucked away in storage instead. And although they would like to see the light of day again, does that give me the excuse to sit here wasting away in sweat pants merely staring off into oblivion? No dad. I could create an art journal like I've always wanted to do. I've seen some amazing ones and am envious. I SHOULD update photo albums and scrapbooks. They haven't really been touched since Mila was born even though it is most important now! Its been too long since I've updated this blog, so there's a start. I don't like basking in my negativity, so I am going to sign off now to leave all the should haves and could be's behind. Perhaps I will change into something fancy and put on some hot pink lipstick and lashes. That always makes me better. Until next time, TATA.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08595206993872775134noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1862826428536331574.post-77571534190723366052011-03-03T23:24:00.000-08:002011-03-03T23:24:35.933-08:00Im going to Jersey Shore!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP4Jp1AM3ZYvXhqqGmkJR2ADc0tNJ0avz0rvPwc_H8dR1TpFGVABQLZE76r-c_RyvPsxwE69ruyB7ig9nmojt6XGt_VzDTnfbRpTTiB_jb8b5WdsQwDnRimsiGOJamT6-NSBbiT09jnYQ/s1600/ppb01a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP4Jp1AM3ZYvXhqqGmkJR2ADc0tNJ0avz0rvPwc_H8dR1TpFGVABQLZE76r-c_RyvPsxwE69ruyB7ig9nmojt6XGt_VzDTnfbRpTTiB_jb8b5WdsQwDnRimsiGOJamT6-NSBbiT09jnYQ/s320/ppb01a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I've been in the works of planning a trip to NY this summer. My entire mom's side lives there, and since I am not currently employed, I need to take as much time as possible to visit while also introducing Mila to her crazy family. My aunts, mom and I have been discussing over Facebook some of options for activities during our 3 week stay. Today my aunt Lisa mentioned we should take a mini trip to the Jersey shore! I am so stoked and I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I went there in the past.. I stayed with my friend Britt at her parents' house in New Jersey one summer during high school. It was nice then and it will be even better this time around. I'm absolutely addicted to the show! One thing is for certain. I have to get my spray tan on. I won't be walking my albino ass around the beach until I do. It is so unfair that I didn't inherit any of my Italian genes.<br />

Eventually I came to my waking senses to realize it was just the damn alarm clock going off. Stabbing me in the brain insistently. It was 6am mind you, so as I was planning on forgetting this little interruption, Mila was basking in the making of a little interruption of her own. The joys of sharing a room with your toddler. So yes, I have been dead tired all day. Thank you.<br />
For the last month or so my mother has been trying with all her might to get me to join her at<a href="http://www.niadu.com/"> Dance Underground</a> on Capital Hill for Nia or Zumba classes. Today was the day that all pieces fell into place and I was actually able to attend.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhToTjPYNHQtbxi1_nl_zgi2jobjKJmRonk2dDZw1psaUTxIBnxA9oDi-U0-ybJeMnLEEnpGoOBnGa7QvKave_RxeCCCoYz7OPE-0ArHPwKU0w-1YFxwUfw6fexP2bIUA3LvPde0GkhAXw/s1600/studio_a-1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhToTjPYNHQtbxi1_nl_zgi2jobjKJmRonk2dDZw1psaUTxIBnxA9oDi-U0-ybJeMnLEEnpGoOBnGa7QvKave_RxeCCCoYz7OPE-0ArHPwKU0w-1YFxwUfw6fexP2bIUA3LvPde0GkhAXw/s1600/studio_a-1.gif" /></a></div>IT WAS GREAT!<br />
The class began with Lady Gaga so I was immediately sold. I could sum Zumba up as basically something I would do on a dance party night with my girlfriends. Given that Zumba doesn't include vodka tonics and involves more stamina than I would regularly volunteer. I am now the proud owner of my own introductory student 3 class punch card and plan to attend class again next Saturday. I feel about 80% better about my existence now. I guess a good workout, some fun tunes, and flailing arms can really make a good impact on my day.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08595206993872775134noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1862826428536331574.post-32112516561763840602011-02-22T21:51:00.000-08:002011-02-22T21:51:42.835-08:00Last Thursday<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Well, it hasn't exactly happened yet. We sorted and washed all the potentials, sprawled them out on the floor, and then decided it was much too sunny out to be cooped up inside and spent the day strolling Alki and living in house buying fantasies instead. It was worth it. <br />
<br />
So now I'm still waiting for our next big mother, daughter, daughter get together day where we will be more productive. In the meantime I have been searching through DIY blogs and finding tons of inspiration. I found a couple sites that have tons of good ideas including: <a href="http://www.threadbanger.com/">Threadbanger</a>, <a href="http://giannyl.com/">GiannyL.com</a> and <a href="http://www,designspongeonline.com/">Design*Sponge.</a><br />
<br />
I also decided that I need to have this book:<br />

So until my mom day get together I will be sketching out rough clothing design plans and preparing myself for awesome-ness.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08595206993872775134noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1862826428536331574.post-5869526716581349632011-02-14T10:16:00.000-08:002011-02-14T10:16:26.548-08:00Be my Valentino noodle slurping son of a Jesus man.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />

</tbody></table> Happy Valentine's day to everyone who gives a damn. I have never personally fretted over the holiday, although having any excuse to get all excessive with your dining adventure for the night is alright in my book. It also gives me an excuse to gussy up a bit into anything including pumps and something other than sexy sweat pants. Me and my hunny-poo went to our favorite little Italian place, Cafe Veloce. They are absolutely fabulous. I feel like a freakin Mormon in suspenders pushing the place on everyone. It's located in Kirkland, about a 45 min drive from our humble abode in Auburn and yet it was our grown up night out dinner of choice anyway. So we fancied up the night with a bottle of Fior D'arancio (fabulous by the way) and a mouthwatering plate of Seared scallops with capers in a white cream sauce. They goofed and gave me seashell noodles instead of fettuccine and brought us a free heart-shaped dessert to compensate. We then made the trek all the way back home to play a mean round of Little Big Planet two. Where I proceeded to grapple him into electricity continuously. (These where his words)<br />

I am armed to slice you and turn you from a 90s mess into something unique and fabulous. After already receiving an abundance of inspiration from the Tasty trunk sale on Wed, my mother and I had a girls day out on Alki, where we rediscovered Pepper, a shop made up entirely by one girls clothing creations. She sits in her shop all day with her sewing maching and chop, chop, chops and turns something old into something new. She had old cowboy boots with added bling and chains, sweater dresses with ruffles, fur covered vests, sequined gowns, you name it. We went away with the desire to create some outfits of our own. We are going to get together at least once a week at her Tullys loft and get creative. I already have about 5 garbage bags filled with clothes that were waiting for the goodwill drop box. I'm stoked for our art date for the coming week!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08595206993872775134noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1862826428536331574.post-54042415833445071512011-02-05T13:40:00.000-08:002011-02-05T13:40:46.490-08:00Eyelashes<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuCRAucVbOiEDfeZH5pNpVGftm8TG6KwcVC-LNKSTc3soZx2eGDcraf1ZhKnetkOqjw4h9c5ozskuaQRioCD1Hu7G_e1rFNJCOBnTYitwEozmm1kbI9nT6QVicrsSrAXTIcYjVwH4ju-Q/s1600/eye%252Clashes%252Cmake%252Cup%252Cred%252Chair%252Cmakeup%252Calice%252Cin%252Cwonderland%252Cphoto-ca2459641286d00c6ef2d59e8f014bed_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuCRAucVbOiEDfeZH5pNpVGftm8TG6KwcVC-LNKSTc3soZx2eGDcraf1ZhKnetkOqjw4h9c5ozskuaQRioCD1Hu7G_e1rFNJCOBnTYitwEozmm1kbI9nT6QVicrsSrAXTIcYjVwH4ju-Q/s320/eye%252Clashes%252Cmake%252Cup%252Cred%252Chair%252Cmakeup%252Calice%252Cin%252Cwonderland%252Cphoto-ca2459641286d00c6ef2d59e8f014bed_h.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I refuse to wash my face. As for those who know him this is a rarety. And probably seems like a fabrication. But I assure you folks, it is more than fiction.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLFmv50o6-hRcEFLKpUxmbVHgaS6CPEaV1T6BRaIZnB_1bsVODRooG7o-8x0papqZXsu3DB8O-Q4uUqQQ7u-oejpVow3zU65sgRN1ZnXcdO3nN09tbE5PSCQpW5tJcgiCDTTSKbivgJ28/s1600/logo.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLFmv50o6-hRcEFLKpUxmbVHgaS6CPEaV1T6BRaIZnB_1bsVODRooG7o-8x0papqZXsu3DB8O-Q4uUqQQ7u-oejpVow3zU65sgRN1ZnXcdO3nN09tbE5PSCQpW5tJcgiCDTTSKbivgJ28/s1600/logo.png" /></a>Last night while I was working the wee hours of the Valentine's Day trunk sale at Tasty in Phinney Ridge, Brian and his pall Chuckles went to see Thursday at Showbox Sodo. ( I have yet to hear this band, but these boys are apparently gaga over them) So after receiving a few ecstatic texts from Brian saying things like "Thursday Destroyed!! Best show EVER!" I was ready to skedaddle my stiletto clad, fake eyelashed, big haired, stretch leather legging ass away from the register, pink champagne, and pink frosted heart shaped cookies to go home to my sketch pad, (I got smacked in the face with an abundance of inspiration at the show) jammies and an adult beverage of my own. I was anticipating a drunken boy after party at my place. Since it was still pretty early, around midnight, and I knew the boys would be all pumped up and sooo not ready to go to bed only to wake up at a decent hour to complete the daily grind. <br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The lead singer of Thursday and Brian</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>Apparently while Brian took his little girl bladder to the bathroom near the end of the show, Chuck took it upon himself to find Thursday's van, introduce himself to the band and tell them it was Brian's birthday. So by the time Brian was done going potty he was rushed straight into star-struck bliss. They all ended up going across the street to some dive bar where the drummer was bought "birthday boy Brian" shots and drinks to celebrate. Long story short (er) He had the time of his life. I am beyond ecstatic for him. The poor guy has a hell of a commute to a thankless job and its about time he did something fantastic. Yay for my little Bri Bri!<br />

I have hours of time that should be filled with productive creation but yet I sit here pondering and allowing myself to lay around in my own filth. I hate television, it kills the mind. I hate clutter, it hurts my soul. I hate perpetual clouds, they make me gloomy. I hate procrastination, its too easy to let it take over. I hate cats, they are all messy little fuckers. I hate messes, cleaning makes me angry. Maybe its the knowledge that I have this time that SHOULD be being used to my advantage that makes me so anxious. I can litterally feel the minutes ticking down, ticking down, I'm running out. It's paralyzing. Any minute Mila will be awake from her nap yet again and I will be full force adventure mommy with not even a second to do my own thing.<br />

She found an article on MSN <a href="http://www.today.msnbc.msn.com/id/3041413">http://www.today.msnbc.msn.com/id/3041413</a> CHECK OUT THESE amazing celebrity ponies! I am in freakin looove. They are all original artwork done by different artists. What a fabulous idea. You can actually purchase "blank" ponies from Hasbro toys. I am exceptionally excited about this idea. I want to make my own flavor of pony!! <br />

Living in Seattle has some perks, but am I the only one who gets tired of the rain? The cold, mold, damp, ickiness? Its only January and I am having serious issues with the mushy, half rain-snow outside my window. So to make this day bearable, I'm fantasizing about this summer to come. </div><div style="color: #e06666; font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />

</div><div style="color: #e06666; font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Let me start off by explaining my current living situation. After leaving my job at the end of August last year to stay at home with Mila, we fell into some financial hardships. Having only one income made affording our East Bellevue apartment impossible. We moved in with Brian's sister who had 2 extra rooms waiting for us in her manufactured, mobile home community house. </div><div style="color: #e06666; font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="color: #e06666; font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">So it is what it is: To spare the fancy titles, we live in a trailer park in Auburn, WA. </div><div style="color: #e06666;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI_YTXI2jUz-Ml9Tu6DQ6LH4lFMH0Jg0rZgFNSBWvD4tpwiZTlvTc5MbeaXx9rTiPn2j7weppV2B25Jecrg7O2mErLqCTV5EjU7U5XN_0qXjarrHIpXhzk-clxgVpg70vk9mjMhD9sjnY/s1600/tumblr_l9lz3zZV961qb8lkfo1_500_large.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="206" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI_YTXI2jUz-Ml9Tu6DQ6LH4lFMH0Jg0rZgFNSBWvD4tpwiZTlvTc5MbeaXx9rTiPn2j7weppV2B25Jecrg7O2mErLqCTV5EjU7U5XN_0qXjarrHIpXhzk-clxgVpg70vk9mjMhD9sjnY/s320/tumblr_l9lz3zZV961qb8lkfo1_500_large.jpg" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I'm making the best of this year anyway I can, broke, homeless (kinda) and trashy. I see pink flamingos steaked into our little back yard. A pink plastic lawn chair with my frilly bikini clad self sprawled out with a good book and vodka spiked lemonade. Ill have unnecessary amounts of jewels draping my neck and wrists. Only to make myself feel fancy as I sip with my pinky out. Mila will be the envy of all the other trailer park kids with the best of the best blow up kiddy pool/ water park that I can find. I will spare no expense. Pink flip flops, over-sized shades and huge billowy hats. Sequins and flowers in our hair (if Mila grows any by then!) Now if only I can find some AstroTurf and a vintage boom box.</span> </div><div style="color: #e06666;"><br />

I was at the highlight of my life, living productive and recklessly and loving every minute of it. I was spinning free in a drunken kind of bliss that is a euphoria that maybe only I can find the way to crave, and enjoy. Life was full and intense. Just the way I like it to be.<br />
<br />
Nine months later the love of my life, Mila Izabella was born. The kind of creative insanity that was previously my life stopped dead in its tracks. This is the story of me, a party girl who is determined to find a way to balance all the things I love. Follow my journey into rock and roll motherhood as I discover ways to bring the best of both worlds into one; to become one hot, amazing, fabulously insane, kickass mom.<br />

Whether it be art, food, fashion, music, events, or simply my thoughts and ideas of the moment. Enjoy, I tend to.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08595206993872775134noreply@blogger.com0
